CHQ Wire (Cold Heading Quality Wire)

Cold Heading Quality Wires, also known as CHQ wires, are typically used for making critical fasteners, cold heading and cold extrusion components. Precision Drawell manufactures CHQ Wires with the latest wire drawing machines and Spherodize annealing furnaces and supplies them to a few leading Auto Ancillary units, Infrastructure & General Engineering companies.

Precision Drawell proudly produces 20,000 tonnes of high quality CHQ Wires every year.Our bell type furnace assures uniformity of temperature and atmosphere to produce consistent properties like zero decarburization addition to the input wire, minimum spheroidization level of 95%, uniform grain size and bright surfaces finish.

Processes Used in Manufacturing The CHQ Wire

Our manufacturing processes include converting the best quality steel wire rod into CHQ wires using HRPPD (Hot Rolled Pickling, Phosphating and Drawing) & SAPPD (Spherodized Annealed, Pickling, Phosphating and Drawing) processes. As the name suggests, we are always focused on manufacturing every product with precision.

HRPPD Process

The wire rods are immersed in a solution containing strong acids to remove the surface impurities

Coils are immersed in individual baths of zinc phosphate and a non-reactive lubricant. This coating provides corrosion protection and lubrication during the wire draw stage.

Pulling wire at normal (room) temperature through a die (Skin Pass) in order to reduce the cross-sectional area.

Our highly experienced Quality Assurance team takes utmost responsibility to send the material as per the customer specifications. Step 5 Ready to Dispatch - Prior to packing and dispatch, A provision for the finished coils to be dipped into protective rust preventive oil, is made as per customer needs to ensure full proof packing. We provide delivery to our clients anywhere in India. Our proximity to ports enables us to serve our international clients as well.

SAPPD Process

Intermediate Drawing -Pulling wire at normal (room) temperature through a die (Skin Pass) in order to reduce the cross-sectional area; i.e. make the wire smaller in diameter.

A heat-treatment process carried out at a uniform temperature followed by a slow cooling in order to obtain a suitable microstructure for cold working

Quality Check at Precision Drawell

Our state of the art lab facility makes certain that only the best reaches our customers.

Therefore, we follow a strict 3-fold quality check protocol which includes testing our product on the following parameters.

  • Raw materials are inspected heatwise.
  • After annealing the intermediate samples are again tested.
  • Finished materials are tested and on approval of our quality team the material is dispatched.
